SHARON VAN ETTEN and BIG SUR FRIENDS in a FIRE RELIEF MEGA-BENEFIT!!
Doors 7 pm / Show 8 pm
Earlier this year, the Henry Miller Memorial Library announced that acclaimed singer-songwriter Sharon van Etten would perform its annual benefit concert, curated by Jesse Goodman, on Friday, August 12th.
Then on the morning of July 22nd, everything changed..
What started as a small fire near Soberanes Creek in Garrapata State Park has now burned over 40,000 acres and has destroyed 57 homes belonging to our dear friends and neighbors. It is the most destructive fire in the history of Big Sur as far as destruction of property. Hundreds of people in our small community are devastated.
Therefore -- Sharon has agreed to instead perform at the 900-person capacity Golden State Theater in downtown Monterey with proceeds from the 800 - still-to-be-sold tickets - to be distributed to the Soberanes Fire Relief Fund. http://www.cpoabigsur.org/Fire_Relief_Fund.html
Sharon will be joined by Al Jardine* (of the Beach Boys), a few local musicians and performers, plus more special guests TBA!).
Residents who lost their homes will get free admission. Go to www.henrymiller.org
or call 667-2574 for details.
Please join us for an amazing community gathering to help support, both monetarily and emotionally, our friends and neighbors who have lost so much.
